WTO Deputy Permanent Representative Stanley Kao addresses Atlanta Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce

At the invitation of the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Atlanta and the Atlanta Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, Stanley Kao, Deputy Permanent Representative of Taiwanˇ¦s WTO mission in Geneva, spoke to a gathering of chamber members, TECO officials, media representatives and business leaders.  About 40 people attended the December 28 presentation, which was held at the TECO office in Atlanta. A lunch reception for social networking followed.

Deputy Permanent Representative Kao, a former Director General of TECO in Atlanta, spoke on the topic: ˇ§Taiwan and the WTO Regime: Opportunities and Challenges.ˇ¨ He explained the WTOˇ¦s history, mission and structure, including the organizationˇ¦s mechanisms for trade dispute resolution. He also addressed the opportunities and the challenges that WTO membership holds for Taiwan. His speech was well-received, and generated several interesting questions during the Q&A session. Local business communities consider the event a great success.
