Director
General R. C. Wu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office
(TECO) in Atlanta hosted a dinner in Frankfort, Kentucky for
six Kentucky Senators, including President Pro Tem at the Kentucky
Senate Katie Stine, Republican Caucus Chairman Richie Sanders,
Sen. Robert Stivers, Sen. Dick Roeding, Sen. Tom Buford and
Sen. Elizabeth Tori. Director General Wu and the Senators exchanged
views on how to further enhance the relations between Taiwan
and Kentucky.
Director
General Wu also met with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.
The Cabinet gave a multi-media presentation of its functions
and explained the current trade relations between Taiwan and
Kentucky. Director General Wu pledged himself to work together
with the Kentucky government to strengthen trade ties between
the two.
Kentucky
and Taiwan established a sister-state relationship on November
9, 1982. Currently, Taiwan is Kentucky's 8th biggest export
market.
