TECO and High Museum Present “Celebrating Taiwan’s Cinema”

In February of 2007, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta (TECO) and the High Museum of Art will collaborate to bring a Taiwan film series to the Rich Theatre in the Woodruff Arts Center of Atlanta, Georgia. This will be the first occasion that the High and TECO have worked together to bring Taiwan cinema to the regular Films At the High program. Every Friday night in the month of February, a Taiwanese-directed film will show at 8pm. The High Museum website offers details on ticket purchasing and movie synopsis.

February 2nd marks the opening night of the Taiwan Film series. Director of TECO Press Division, Stephen Chang, will preside over a Celebrating Taiwan’s Cinema panel discussion with professors from Duke University and Savannah College of Art and Design at 5:30pm. Following the discussion, at 6pm, TECO Director General R.C. Wu and the High Museum will co-host an invitation-only reception with friends of the cultural arts community. The first film, 20 30 40, will begin at 8pm.

TECO presents the film series as a reflection of the modern and diverse Taiwanese culture and society. The creative endeavors of the showcased directors, combined with the collaboration between the High Museum and TECO, will further promote meaningful cultural exchange and understanding between Taiwan and its friends in the Atlanta community. TECO encourages everyone to take advantage of this event and enjoy a Friday night with one of Taiwan’s best films.
