Events & Activities News >> 2006 Pacific Securities Class at GA Tech Invites Mr. Wu to Lecture October 31, 2006 Dr. John Endicott of Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs invited Director General R.C. Wu, of TECO Atlanta, to speak to his Pacific Securities, graduate level class. Mr. Wu gave a power point presentation titled, Taiwan-A Successful Story & Its Role in Regional Security. The slides introduced basic geographical, economic and political aspects of Taiwan, while Mr. Wu expounded on the points with insight into the current situation and general consensus of the situation between Taiwan and China. The lecture also focused on Taiwan’s vast contributions to the international community, specifically in the often enigmatic Southeast Asia region. Taiwan’s long history as a country which has been colonized by the Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese and is now the home of Asia’s first republic, place it in a unique position in regard to trade and important cross-cultural exchange. This pivotal position and the progressive democracy that Taiwan represents, are threatened by the political agendas of China. While discussing the many bright spots in Taiwan’s present and future growth, Mr. Wu also addressed the issue of China’s military threats. He showed a short video titled, “Threat from China”, which briefly outlined the specifics of China’s aggression toward Taiwan’s 23 million peace and liberty seeking people. The video showed commentary from Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfield and other Taiwanese and American security officials which highlighted the international significance of China’s unfortunate stance of military intimidation in the Taiwan Strait region. Mr. Wu answered the enthusiastic and well-formed questions of Dr. Endicotts’s students, some of which had recently come back from visiting Taiwan. He stressed the civil power and influence of Taiwan’s people through high levels of popular interest and involvement in politics on the island. Taiwan’s biggest asset is the people who so persistently pursue the cause of freedom and human rights for many Taiwanese generations to come. 吳處長應邀赴喬治亞理工學院作國情演講 吳處長在喬治亞理工學院農恩國際事務學院亞洲安全研究講座作國情演講 Photo Above: 吳處長演講情形.
