TECO Participated in the ¡§Atlanta: Celebrating our Beloved Community¡¨ Multicultural Festival

The ¡§Atlanta: Celebrating our Beloved Community¡¨ multicultural festival organized by the office of the U.S. Congressman John Lewis was held on June 4th at Grant Park, Atlanta. Groups from different cultural backgrounds joined the event to provide performances, art exhibitions and food. Under the invitation of Rep. Lewis¡¦ office, Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Atlanta also took part in this cultural event. During the event, TECO prepared information of Taiwan with regard to tourism, economy, social development¡Ketc., to help the visitors learn more about Taiwan. Eve Hao Dance School, a famous Taiwanese & Chinese dance school in Atlanta, also provided three dance items, ¡§Rainbow Sisters¡¨, ¡§Fan Dance¡¨ and ¡§The Harvest Festival Dance of Amis¡¨ representing the multi cultural heritage of Taiwan. The outstanding performances of the Eve Hao dancers, some as young as three years old, won the cheering ovation of the audience. In addition to exhibition and performances, TECO also entertained the visitors with delicate food items prepared by the Eurasia Restaurant, a renown restaurant well known in its fusion cuisines, the gourmet food won the approval of all who had tried it including Congressman Lewis.

Considering the rapid growth of minority population in great Atlanta area in recent years, Congressman Lewis¡¦ Office organized the ¡§Committee on Multicultural Initiates¡¨ in 2005 with the goal of ¡§recognizing the strength of ethnic diversity within the City of Atlanta and neighboring communities.¡¨ The ¡§Atlanta: Celebrating our Beloved Community¡¨ multicultural festival was held for the first time in June last year. This year the scale and participating groups have seen a huge growth.
