Taipei City enhances the Sister-City ship with Atlanta

A Taipei Sister City Goodwill Mission, led by Ms. Chih-Ping Wang, Taipei City Councilwoman, visited Atlanta on January 26-28, 2005. The Mission also included a performing troupe of the Acrobatics and Dance Department of the National Taiwan Junior College of Performing Arts, scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. on January 27 at Georgia State University¡¦s Rialto Center for Performing Arts. It featured a crowd-pleasing, colorful display of Taiwanese acrobatics and dance.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta, representing the interests of Taiwan in the six southeastern states, was in charge of the mission¡¦s visit. Mayor Shirley Franklin and Councilor Jim Maddox received the delegation and attended the outstanding performance to honor Atlanta¡¦s sister city Taipei.

Taipei is the Capital City of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Taipei and Atlanta have been sister cities since 1979. Both municipalities regularly conduct numerous visits and culture events with each other to promote mutual understanding and friendship and enhance their relations.
